AMIA, in partnership with Boston Light & Sound and The Film Foundation, offers a three day Intermediate Projection Workshop training projectionists and staff presenting 35mm film in theaters.

The three-day intermediate workshop is intended for projectionists with a good understanding of the operation of a film projector.  Attendees should feel comfortable with threading and light maintenance before attending the Workshop.

The workshop curriculum will –

  • Assess and reinforce correct techniques and projection skills
  • Provide adequate, small-group and one-on-one training in the areas of proper projection maintenance and configuration
  • Provide an understanding of the history and context of film projection
  • Provide an understanding of proper presentation and showmanship

Class size will be limited to 12 projectionists to allow for the hand-on training.  The workshop will be held at Boston, Light & Sound at their facility in Boston on October 30-November 1, 2017.

This is a unique opportunity for small group and one-on-one training for projectionists working with 35mm film, especially with archival and rare prints.

Registration is $350 per person for the three day workshop.
Registration is limited to 12.
